Nov Beach Trip (Return Trip)

Julie & I had snow on our return trip. The Santiam Pass was chains or traction tires required and luckily I had put on my studded snow tires before we left for the beach.

Nov Beach Trip (Friday)

Friday the girls had a girls day out. After they got home we rent the movie "Despicable Me". The movie ends with some music and it got the kids dancing.

Nov Beach Trip Thanksgiving dinner

Thursday we had an early Thanksgiving dinner.

Nov Beach Trip (Caleb's Birthday)

Right after lunch on Thursday we celebrated Caleb's birthday. Everyone enjoyed mom's cupcakes with shark infested frosting, and opening the presents.

Nov Beach trip (Wednesday)

A storm came in Wednesday and we stayed in except for a trip to Moe's in Newport. They had kids eat free so even a storm couldn't keep away.

Nov Beach Trip

Michelle our friend from Troutdale lives in Lincoln City now, so Julie invited her to dinner. I don't know if she got a chance to eat it seems she was staying pretty busy with Hannah.

Nov Beach Trip (Lincoln City)

You can tell it was a nice day to be at the beach. Abigail was having fun showing off her writing abilities and Elijah was daring the waves to get him most of the time. Caleb and Hannah just enjoyed being at the beach.

Nov Beach Trip Newport

The weather was pretty nice on Tuesday, so we went to Newport to the "Hatfield Marine Biology Center", but it was closed on Tuesdays. We then went to walk along the wharf and watched the Sea Lions. Besides being mean to each other they really stunk. So we headed for the beach in Lincoln City.

Madison's Field Trip for Geology

For her geology course, Madison went on a field trip this past Friday, Saturday and Sunday to Owens Valley near Mammoth Lake in California.  Here are just a few of the wonderful pictures Maddie took.  She said she had a blast, and is thinking about going this Summer to the Grand Canyon with this instructors class.  Hope you enjoy the pictures.  Love you all, Jeanette

That is an earthquake fault running through the middle of this picture.

California and then some...

Mom enjoyed hearing all about the wines, she bought a port, an after dinner wine.
The lady that worked there was very attentative to mom. She wanted to fix her up with her 90 year old grandfather, who golfs everyday. He lives in Santa Cruz.
Chris was surprised! He actually enjoyed his sandwich. The dressing on the salad was a different matter! No Poupon dressing for him!
This fresh salmon is really fresh!! (raw). We each had a taste but mom got to have the lion's share.

We shared with the waiter that I had seen the show with Guy Fieri. He was french also, and enjoyed talking with Solange.

After we left the girls, we went to a winery north of where we stayed. Mom and I had a glass of their wine with our lunch the day before, and we really liked it, so we found the winery and did their wine tasting. We were the only people there, since we got there just as it opened. We enjoyed it very much, bought some bottles to take home, and then headed for Sacramento. I wanted to treat mom to lunch at Cafe Rolle, a cafe that Guy Fieri visited on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. We enjoyed it very much. Then we hit the road for home. Make sure to keep going down to the next post. We posted several things, and I guess we have to alert you all to that! Enjoy!
